Visited a conference May 7, 2008 on “Enterprise 2.0″ and learned that people are very attached to their e-mail; they rate their own e-mail system 3 times higher / better then others and rate problems with another system 3 times more / worse. Ergo, a new system for e-mail must be 3×3 ~ 10 times better….
I came across people in Africa - could have been anywhere - saving in their e-mail all kind if have-to’s, must-know’s, is-handy, do-not-know-yet stuff AND off course the e-mail address to contact their contacts.
E-mail-milkmen (adspace / ad-sellers) - Google being a frontrunner - got the message; build it all around e-mail, messaging, VOIP etc, but the jump to teamwork looks clumsy - share docs with e-mail addresses - because of the integration with desk top apps. The web is not made for docs but pages; the secret of WikiPedia is chunking and lengthy documents you will download.
